The Restaurant
The 23rd Street Brewery is now a local Lawrence establishment. The brewery doesn't merely fall into the category of bar and grill or typical brewpub - it is definitely more. 23rd Street Brewery is also a catering company, a banquet facility, a nightspot for Greek functions, a beer distribution operation, a fundraising machine for local charities, and a venue to throw huge promotional parties in celebration of events like the first day of summer, Fat Tuesday and St. Patrick's Day. The brewery is constantly redefining what a brewpub is and what it can be. This is something that could only be done in a college town like Lawrence where there is so much talent, experience and opportunity concentrated into one place, allowing the vision of this restaurant to expand outside of the box.
The Brewery
Here at the 23rd Street Brewery, we pride ourselves in creating and offering ales and lagers of exceptional quality. Often in the micro brewing industry, quality is compromised for quantity. We brew handcrafted, small batch beers to ensure freshness is as crisp as it is clean. We use only the finest domestic and imported barley and hops to brew beers of tradition and beers of distinction. The brew house we call home is a 15 barrel Pub Brewing System located on the upper level of the impressive brewery interior. In the past year, we have doubled our production to exceed 1000 barrels (2000 Kegs) per year and have begun distributing g to other bars and restaurants throughout Kansas.
Bryan "Bucky" Buckinghamt, brew master of the 23rd Street Brewery, is creatingt mouth watering specialty beers and recently won a Silver Medal in the Irish Style Red Ale category at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival for Crimson Phog. |
